What would you choose, and why? G8 vs S80

S80 cuz I dont want to have to grow a mullet.

G8 all day, every day. A bulletproof drivetrain with cheaper common parts and excellent chassis dynamics. Also, it’s aged VERY well IMO.

G8. I grew up in the 80’s, so the mullet is A-OK with me.

I want to say G8, but I would have to go with a 2008 (or thereabouts) S80 because the interior reminds of the bridge of the Enterprise.

G8 if manual S80 is their both auto.

G8. Cool and reliable drivetrain, plus I’m not a huge fan of the looks of the s80

I’d take the G8. I’m just a sucker for Holdens.

G8. There was one of these parked on the curb where I used to ride by it for over a year. I’m black. It looks so muscle and cool.

G8

This is the right answer.
Would be a tougher call if it was G8 vs s60 though...

G8 period. LS potential and looks better as a Holden. It’s simple

G8, every time. Either of them will eventually require wrenching. At least the parts for the G8 won’t be as expensive.

The only G8 manuals were with the GXP trim. They’ve been bought as investments and seem to hover around 30k give or take. I guess that would put it in line with the cost of a newer s80 though.

And in darker colors, it looks like the Battle Bridge.

G8, because it’s not a fat Taurus with an appalling weight distribution.

As an Australian...G8. Mostly because it’s a GM engine on a GM platform and most of the primary parts came from the US. Rather than a cobbled together mix of a Japanese motor on a Ford platform that was made in Europe from parts sourced the world over...
KISS principle applies...

I’m the opposite of 99% of Oppos. Most people would take a balanced, V8, RWD driver’s car over a FWD sofa any day. I have other priorities. I prioritize a comfy interior. The S80 has an amazing interior, and the one in the G8 is amazingly awful. I like the G8, but I’d take the S80 all day every day and twice on Sundays.

Forgot about the battle bridge. It’s enough for me to take a second look at the darker interiors next time I’m window shopping

The Volvo. Much better for daily driving needs due to a more comfortable interior. However if you prioritize straight line performance by all means take the Pontiac.

Tbh I don’t know. The S80 is a wonderful car in many ways but the G8 is a freaking Holden Commodore with Pontiac badges.
I’d probably go with the S80 because of the interior though. Also, GM build quality pre-bankruptcy<<<

G8! GM parts availability will be far better than Volvo
more power (V8)

G8. Reasons.

G8 anyday. As long as it was a GT or GXP. The V6 of these is just a sad state of affairs for what the car is. I mean I understand it, sales and what not, but if you want any fun at all you’ll want the V8. Plus the car looks better than the S80 and I personally love the interior of the G8. I got to blast up CA 1 north of SF into Oregon with an auto G8 GT and it was seriously tons of fun. 8/10 would own an auto, but 11/10 would own a manual.
